It seems like every few months there’s a new platform being introduced with the tagline, “The site that will change everything.” It’s hard to remember at time without Facebook. But in reality, that was only only 11 years ago. Since 2004, sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Google +, Pinterest, Meerkat, and many more have been introduced and become a part of life for billions of people.

We are in a time of constant invention and evolution of social media products. The problem with these sites consistently adapting, is that people who weren’t exposed to the technology right away can be at a loss when trying to join the conversation.

People are spending 28% of their online time using social media sites. With internet users spending more time on social media, businesses with multiple social media accounts are increasing the likelihood of being seen by potential customers. But, not all consumers are on the same social media sites or engage with content the same way. By experimenting with different content on different channels, a business can measure success and see what type of message resonates the best with certain customers.

In the summer, Cape Cod becomes a vacation destination for people who want to enjoy the beautiful beaches, shop in seaside towns and taste fresh seafood. It also is a great place to watch amateur baseball. The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL), founded in 1885, invites the best collegiate players from around the nation to participate in the three month summer league. Players live with host families, get jobs in their town to learn about the community and help teach baseball fundamentals to boys and girls.

However, every social media site has a different fan base. If you want to reach as many potential customers as possible, your business should have a presence on multiple social networks. But, the more sites you add, the more work you make for the person monitoring those accounts.

Having a social media presence is more than just sharing an update or a photo. A social media manager needs to find a way to keep track of the messages that they’ve sent.
