As a business owner, your goal is to ultimately create a relationship with the members of your community, not only with your consumers, but with other businesses too. Your local chamber of commerce can offer you resources to help grow your audience and strengthen ties with other local businesses.
“No matter what your profession is, you are sure to make new business contacts and expand your company’s visibility through a variety of channels,” says Meaghan Doherty of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are a member driven, business focused organization advocating for economic growth and business prosperity.”
“The chamber can be a catalyst for new revenue opportunities,” says Robert Mellion, President and CEO of the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce.
Both say, the best way to join is to contact any chamber directly in person, by phone, or by email. Once you do, you’ll be able to become active in their events and participate in the community of businesses that already exists.
“The Chamber offers a variety of business networking and social events throughout the year. Monthly business after hours events are designed to generate a less formal occasion for introductions, information sharing and provide new business leads and growth potential.” says Mellion.
“Statistics show that consumers are more likely to purchase from a business that is a chamber member and to view the business more favorably,” says Ms. Doherty. She continues, “ You are sending a message that your business operates using sound business practices and is a leader in the community.”
Your membership into a local chamber gives you the opportunity to become partners with local businesses and build ways that can increase the profile of all the local businesses in your community.
