It’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Big retail stores have been offering massive discounts for the last 36 hours. If you are a small business owner, you know that holiday shoppers are out and spending money, but you might not know how to bring them to your business.

You might think that shoppers aren’t thinking about your business during these mega sales. You might think that customers are only interested in getting a great deal on a flat screen TV. I’m here to let you know about a growing movement among American consumers: Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is a national campaign to help promote small and medium sized businesses during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. It encourages shoppers to walk down Main Street and visit local stores, spending money within their community.

Learning the Lingo: Your Brand Ambassadors

Posted by Nick Pizzolato on Fri, Oct 24, 2014 @ 03:21 PM

Learning the Lingo is a series of posts that will investigate marketing terms, ideas and strategies. Our topic today: brand ambassadors.

You might be asking, "What is a brand ambassador? It sounds very formal. Do I need to invest a lot of money and resources into it? Do you think Beyoncé will promote my product or business on the red carpet if she becomes my brand ambassador?"

I have good news and bad news. The good news: it’s not that formal and usually no extra compensation is required. The bad news: Beyoncé probably will not mention your product. (Although, that’s a fantastic goal to have - never give up on it.)

Making Social Media Your Media

Posted by Media Solutions on Thu, Oct 16, 2014 @ 02:19 PM

Do you drink coffee? When you walk into your favorite coffee house or café do you recognize other regular customers? Do they recognize you? Does the barista know your order before you order it? Do you stop and chat with friends about sports, politics or what was on TV the night before?

You might think that’s just your morning routine, but you are actually a part of a community that is based around that business. You are one person in a network of customers that has made this coffee house profitable.

Wouldn’t it be great to offer your customers a similar relationship? Creating a community where customers can interact with you, each other and create a network of consumers that turn to you for advice and for a product you offer.

You have that opportunity. You can build that community by using social media.

Blogging To Build Your Business

Posted by Robin Lorenzen on Wed, Oct 01, 2014 @ 02:42 PM

blogging_inboundThe marketing world is changing. Customers are no longer reliant upon sales people to contact them and let them know all about a fabulous new product or service. Instead, customers take control of their own buying experience. On average, an estimated 60 percent of the buying process is complete before a customer even speaks with a company’s sales representatives.

With the advent of the digital age, consumers increasingly turn to the Internet to learn more about the products and services that interest them. This means that businesses of all sizes must adapt their marketing strategies to meet the needs of these new technologically savvy customers. One of the best means of accomplishing this is by starting a company blog. For those who have never had a blog before, the prospect might sound intimidating, but it does not have to be. Having the opportunity to interact with potential customers on a personal level and share your thoughts and experiences, and might even be fun! Here is what all small business owners should know about building a company blog.
