This weekend looks to be a great time for you to pack-up some sandwiches and soda, grab a towel and sunblock, and head to the beach. You probably spent a lot of time thinking about the perfect beach day this previous winter, when you were trapped indoors by the record snowfall. You’re not alone. Now that summer is in full swing, people are swarming the beaches to enjoy the ocean and the sun. It’s actually something that Massachusetts residents have been doing for generations.
This postcard from the early 1900s shows a crowded Peggotty Beach in Scituate, Ma. Scituate is an ocean town, south of Boston, that is known for being a great seaside destination. It’s one of the oldest towns in the commonwealth, becoming incorporated in 1636. It’s also home to some delicious seafood restaurants.
