Innovation has allowed us to create modern tools that makes construction easier, faster, and safer. But, not so long ago, jobs could be time consuming and also dangerous. This photo shows just how labor intensive projects could be.

It’s hard to imagine completing any job with just a steam shovel and a horse and buggy cart, but that’s how many of projects were completed in the early 20th century. There is no question that construction workers did, and still do, deserve admiration for their hard work.
