Seven years ago, I saw a delivery truck for a large supermarket chain and thought, “What a great idea!” I remember being astounded at what a simple concept it was and couldn’t believe no one had thought of it before. Afterall, no one likes to go grocery shopping. No one likes to hunt for a place to park, or deal with long lines on a weekend. I began to think of how and when I could take advantage of this new service the next time I needed to go food shopping. Later, I realized that grocery deliveries aren’t a new concept at all, just one that had been updated.
When we think of “deliveries” we may automatically think about ordering a pizza or receiving gifts from relatives. However, for generations local businesses have offered their customers a home delivery service. Items like vegetables, fruit, milk, meat, packages, coal, and other products would be delivered to customers who requested the service.
