If you were to do an internet search for exercise workouts, you will find hundreds (probably even thousands) of results for different aerobic routines that you can do to burn calories and gain muscle. However, you will probably not find any modern exercise regimen that replicates the very old fashioned workout featured below.

This unknown model was featured in a handout given to students in the 1900s to show them the proper way to exercise. Wearing pants, a button down shirt, and leather shoes may have been the rage in the early 20th century, however, since then, health and fitness has come a long way.

You can take part in day full of modern workout routines at Wicked Local’s Health and Fitness Festival presented by Shaw’s and Osco Pharmacies this Saturday at the Cross Insurance Pavilion at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The event is free and everyone is invited!

Work up a sweat with one of our eight exercise demonstrations. You’ll have the opportunity to take your photo with the Boston Celtics’ 2008 NBA Championship trophy and ask NBA Champion Leon Powe about that team. There will be cooking demonstrations, expert speakers leading a variety of seminars, and activities for the whole family.
