Your business needs to be visible online. But, you also have to be alert as there can be disgruntled customers, or competitors, that will try to sour your business for prospective consumers. Being conscious of what is being said about your business online is called reputation monitoring and it’s an essential part of your overall digital marketing campaign.
Being aware of how third parties are portraying your business will help you determine your digital and social media strategy. If the feedback is positive, you can reference it in your marketing campaigns, and maybe even reward those consumers who think highly of you. If you feel the feedback is negative, then you might need to work on ways to turn that image around.
Remember, consumers trust other consumers with word of mouth recommendations, so positive and negative online referrals can affect if customers go to your business over a competitor's. By being proactive and engaged with your digital presence, you will always be aware of problems that arise online and ready to respond to them.
